Russell Chidester. -

Russell Chidester, originally from Austin, Texas, attended Claremont McKenna College where he majored in economics and played collegiate tennis. After Claremont McKenna, Russell was employed by Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML) as an investment banking analyst in their Los Angeles office where he worked on a variety of transactions across many different industries - from syndicated film financings to for-profit education IPOs. After BAML, Russell moved to Denver, Colorado to work for KRG Capital as an Associate. KRG Capital is a middle-market, generalist, private equity firm, currently investing out of its $2 billion fund. KRG's investment strategy focuses on fragmented industries where platform growth can be achieved both organically and through "add-on" acquisitions. At KRG, Russell worked with a variety of portfolio companies and pursued deals spread across multiple sectors; however, he spent the majority of his time working within the healthcare space, both medical device and services. This summer Russell will be working for DaVita Healthcare Partners.

Yizhen Dong

Yizhen Dong -

Yizhen is full-time MBA student at Chicago Booth, and a part-time Associate at Hyde Park Angels, where he sources and evaluates healthcare investment opportunities across the Midwest.Prior to Booth, Yizhen led ZS consulting teams to conduct market research and use data analytics to understand and capture market opportunities for biotech clients. He subsequently joined Genentech to launch Avastin in ovarian and cervical cancers and developed forecasts and marketing strategies across the product portfolio.Yizhen graduated magna cum laude in Economics from Vanderbilt University and is a trained sushi chef after working at his family restaurant for over 7 years.

Dane Guarino

Dane Guarino -

Dane spent the last four years working in investment banking in Chicago, focusing on helping early stage healthcare technology and medical device companies raise growth equity and sell themselves. He found that he enjoyed working with his entrepreneurial clients on their strategies and pressing issues more than his banking responsibilities, so he decided to attend Booth to immerse himself in the startup environment to pick up the skills necessary to start his own healthcare technology company. Currently Dane is working on building traction with his startup, Markit Medical./p>

Marland Hobbs

Marland Hobbs -

Prior to Booth, Marland worked at CVS Health as an advisor in the strategy group. There he helped design and build Specialty Connect, a program which improved the access and care for patients taking specialty medications in CVS's 7,700 stores. Before CVS Health, Marland worked for Huron Consulting Group as consultant in the life sciences group serving large pharma and medical device companies. In the Health Care Group at Booth, Marland helps represent the group in events related to social impact and spearheads sponsor engagement and fundraising

Serena Hohmann

Serena Hohmann -

Prior to Booth, Serena studied public policy in Latin America and women’s health in the region while pursuing an interdisciplinary MA at the University of Chicago. After her graduate work, Serena accepted a Presidential Management Fellowship with the U.S. Department of State. She began her State Department career as a foreign affairs analyst, monitoring and analyzing political and security trends in Mexico and Canada for senior government officials. Later Serena worked to strengthen international education programming at the Inter-American Development Bank. In her final public sector position, she managed large-scale U.S. foreign assistance projects that improved Mexican judicial and law enforcement capacity. She is looking forward to returning to the healthcare field this summer during her internship at Baxter. Serena is pursuing concentrations in Marketing and General Management while at Booth.

Mitch Kirby

Mitch Kirby -

Prior to Booth, I started my career as a management consultant at Booz and Company in the health care group out of New York. At Booz, I focused on strategy work for hospitals transitioning to value-based care and responding to health reform. After two years at Booz, I did a 3-month sabbatical where I worked at a health care startup accelerator and venture fund in Princeton called TigerLabs. This summer, I will be working at GE Ventures in their health care group and will be based out of Menlo Park, CA. Post business school, my goal is to secure an investing role at a venture capital or growth equity firm with an emphasis on health care and a strong involvement with its portfolio operations. I did my undergraduate studies at Princeton where I majored in Molecular Biology and wrote my senior thesis on developing drugs to increase human lifespan.

David Palm

David Palm -

Prior to starting business school at Booth, David worked in management consulting at Accenture and ZS Associates. At Accenture, David worked in a variety of industries, with a significant focus on healthcare projects in the pharmaceutical and healthcare provider spaces. His projects covered a variety of strategic healthcare issues, including product launches, market access, and partnership strategies. In addition to this project work, he led research for a major white paper on pharmaceutical product launches. After 3 years at Accenture, David moved to ZS Associates, where he spent a year focusing on sales and marketing issues in the Medical Products and Services industry. At Booth, David is pursuing concentrations in Economics, Strategic Management, and Managerial and Organizational Behavior and is also a Co-Chair of the Business Solutions Group. He is spending the summer of 2015 at L.E.K. Consulting in Chicago.
